Since 1987, IMAGICA Cosmo Space has been a driving force in Japan’s video production industry. From planning and filming to live broadcast editing and post production, the company offers a comprehensive one-stop video service.

In December 2024, the company rebranded as a video service company, with a mission to ‘deliver amazing video that brings surprise and emotion to many people’. This bold vision demands both creative innovation and cutting-edge technical capability. With this vision in mine, IMAGICA Cosmo Space continues to evolve and take on challenges to shape the future of the film industry.

The Challenge

The demand for high-quality, diverse video content has never been higher. Sports, entertainment and live streaming audiences can expect cinematic-quality visuals anytime, anywhere.

IMAGICA Cosmo Space recognized that traditional broadcast infrastructure was reaching its limits in meeting these demands. The team needed:

  • True 4K native 24P capability for cinematic-quality production.
  • A spacious, efficient production environment within a mobile platform.
  • Trusted, high-performance monitoring tools for both in-house and external production teams.

The Solution

To meet these needs, IMAGICA Cosmo Space introduced Japan’s first large-scale broadcast vehicle compatible with 4K/6G-SDI/24P. At the heart of this innovation is Leader Electronics’ state-of-the-art broadcast measurement and monitoring technology.

Leader Electronics’ equipment installed includes:

These devices support the latest formats such as 4K/6G-SDI/24P, providing powerful support for high-quality video production.

Mr Sota Oshima, Deputy Director, Production Technology Division, IMAGICA Cosmo Space, commented, Since our founding in 1978, we have established a comprehensive video production system that covers everything from planning and production to various technical operations within broadcasting stations, as well as live broadcasting, filming, and editing. As a comprehensive video service company, we have been able to respond to the diverse needs of our customers with a one-stop service, expanding our business activities across a wide range of fields.

The introduction of this 4K/6G-SDI/24P-compatible large-scale live broadcast vehicle represents the new challenges in video production. We are confident that in collaboration with Leader Electronics’ state-of-the-art equipment, we will be able to deliver even higher-quality video content to our clients. About ten years ago, our focus was primarily on sports broadcasting, but now we are also putting effort into entertainment and live streaming. The newly introduced broadcast vehicle supports 4K native 24P and 6G-SDI, which is a significant advantage over our competitors.”

IMAGICA Cosmo Space Production Technology Division Chief/VE, Daisuke Kodama adds, “We didn’t have a large broadcast truck to begin with, but when we rode in another company’s large broadcast truck, we saw that it was equipped with Leader Electronics’ rasteriser. We wanted to make it as easy to use as possible, as we sometimes call-in external staff. Equipment that we are familiar with makes operations run more smoothly. We purchased the optional SER26, so being able to customize the size and layout of the picture, waveform, and vector is great. The LV7600W rasterizer can output to an external large monitor, so it’s easy to see even in the confined space of a broadcast truck, and we adjust the layout depending on the content being filmed. For example, during football broadcasts, we arrange four waveforms side by side to check brightness and other parameters.”

Looking Ahead

With its new broadcast vehicle IMAGICA Cosmo Space is poised to lead Japan’s next era of broadcasting. The company plans to push forward with IP adoption, remote production capabilities and continued innovation, ensuring audiences experience “amazing video” no matter where they are.
